Dr. Richard Slatcher, inaugural Gail M. Williamson Distinguished Professor in Health Psychology!

The Department of Psychology is honored to have Dr. Richard Slatcher joining the department as the first Gail M. Williamson Distinguished Professor in Health Psychology. The Williamson Professorship celebrates the life and recognizes the professional contributions provide by Dr. Williamson as a beloved faculty member of the UGA Department of Psychology. Her Specialty was family caregiving of the frail elderly.

Dr. Slatcher comes to us from Wayne State University where he has had a leading role in studying the influence of peoples' social relationships on their well-being and health. In particular, he is interested in understanding the underlying biological mechanisms that are responsible for these associations, including key hormonal and immunological pathways.
