Psychology undergraduate Anna Hutchins recently won the Runner Up Senior Award this year for her research on "Standing out or Fitting in: Exploring How and When Substance Abuse Counselors’ Personal Recovery Status Impacts Burnout." Anna was supported by her faculty mentor, Dr. Lillian Eby. Kelly Rea received a Communication of Research and Scholarship Award from the Graduate School to support the development and dissemination of an eBook intended to reduce youth anxiety and promote positive coping with pediatric preventative care visits. UGA Psi Chi Virtual Convention Tuesday, April 20, 2021 - 9:00am Tuesday, April 20, 2021 - 11:00am Virtual (Discord) Conference Psi Chi is excited to announce that this year’s convention will be taking place on April 20th, 2021. The convention will be held virtually on Discord, a platform similar to Zoom and Slack. Attendance is free and presentations will be given live from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Our keynote speaker this year is Dr. Sophie Trawalter, a professor of public policy and psychology at the University of Virginia. Dr. Trawalter’s research focuses on phenomena related to social diversity. Her keynote address will begin after poster presentations have concluded. Honoring Dr. Louise McBee Dr. Louise McBee, a psychologist and former University of Georgia administrator and state legislator from Athens, died Tuesday March 2nd, 2021 at 96. Dr. McBee served in several positions at UGA, including dean of women, vice president for academic affairs, and associate professor of psychology and associate professor of higher education. She is the namesake for the Louise McBee Award, given each year to a female grad student in clinical, school, and counseling psychology at UGA, and sponsored by the Athens Area Psychological Association.
