Dr. Sierra Carter named as one of the 40 under 40 Leaders in Minority Health!

Congratulations to Dr. Sierra Carter (2016 PhD in Clinical Psychology), who has recently been named as one of the 40 under 40 Leaders in Minority Health by the National Minority Quality Forum, recognizing her research in health disparities! Dr. Carter is now an assistant professor of Psychology at Georgia State University. Keep up the outstanding work!

Psychology Graduate Students Receive Innovative and Interdisciplinary Research Grants!

Congratulations to five psychology graduate students on receiving Innovative and Interdisciplinary Research Grants for Doctoral Students, funded by the Graduate School, to support their summer research projects. The recipients from Psychology were Nicholas Haynes, Jennifer Hoy, Brooke Jackson, Kelly Rea, and Kara West. Keep up the great work!

Dr. Michelle vanDellen receives 2019 CURO Research Mentoring Award!

Congratulations to Dr. Michelle vanDellen who is one of the 2019 CURO Research Mentoring Award recipients! The CURO Research Mentoring Award recognizes outstanding faculty who consistently engage undergraduates through CURO Programming (courses, the symposium, summer fellows, theses, et al.) and enhance the learning experience of undergraduate researchers at the University of Georgia. Dr. Justin Lavner receives the UGA Charles B. Knapp Early Career Scholar Award

Justin LavnerCongratulations to Dr. Justin Lavner, assistant professor in the psychology department, on his 2019 Research Award from the University of Georgia! Dr. Lavner received the Charles B. Knapp Early Career Scholar Award for his work aimed at understanding how marriages change and why some relationships succeed and others struggle.

Dr. Richard Slatcher, inaugural Gail M. Williamson Distinguished Professor in Health Psychology!

The Department of Psychology is honored to have Dr. Richard Slatcher joining the department as the first Gail M. Williamson Distinguished Professor in Health Psychology. The Williamson Professorship celebrates the life and recognizes the professional contributions provide by Dr. Williamson as a beloved faculty member of the UGA Department of Psychology.

Psychology Undergraduate's Essay Published in The Classic Journal

Congratulations to UGA sociology, psychology, and criminal justice student Hannah Dickens, whose work on theories and practices associated with the cessation of criminal behavior has been published in The Classic, the Writing Intensive Program’s journal of undergraduate writing and research.
