Katie Ehrlich explores surprising "crossover effects" of teen stress

Katie Ehrlich's new project takes aim at the effects of adolescent stress and its impact on parents' cardiovascular health

The $3.3 million study is being funded by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute to follow 400 families in the Athens area over a five-year span:

PSYC 4300 Virtual Reality Showcase

On November 10, 2025, students in Allison Howard’s PSYC 4300 course hosted a Virtual Reality Showcase featuring immersive learning experiences. Department faculty, graduate students, and undergraduates had the opportunity to explore in-progress virtual and augmented reality projects and talk with students about their development process. 

The projects included original VR content, activity guides, and lesson plans informed by coursework in the Psychology Department.

Fall 2025 Psychology Department Picnic

This October, the Department of Psychology welcomed its faculty, staff, graduate students, and their families to a local park for a department-wide picnic. The event took place on a clear autumn day, and offered the opportunity for a welcome pause in a busy semester. The turnout reflected just how much everyone appreciated the chance to slow down and connect outside the usual work and classroom routines.

Drew Abney named UGA Aspire Fellow

Associate Professor and Associate Department Head Drew Abney has been selected for the University of Georgia's 2025-2026 Aspire Fellows cohort. Drew will join colleagues from the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, the Center for Teaching and Learning, and six other UGA schools and colleges in this yearlong interdisciplinary cohort program designed to help faculty build strong community connections while expanding their professional impact.
